Engine Block / Immobiliser — How It Works
A remote engine immobiliser lets you cut your vehicle's engine from your phone — stopping a thief from driving away or restarting a stolen vehicle.

The relay is wired into the vehicle's ignition circuit or fuel pump circuit. When triggered remotely via the Navixy platform, it interrupts that circuit — preventing the engine from starting or stopping it at low speed. DFL GPS installs the relay as part of the tracker installation.

Remote engine immobilisation should only be activated when the vehicle is stationary or at very low speed. Cutting the engine of a moving vehicle can cause loss of power steering and brakes, creating a serious road safety risk. DFL GPS recommends only triggering the engine block when the vehicle has stopped, or in consultation with law enforcement.
- Most new vehicle warranties explicitly prohibit modifications to the electrical or ignition system. Installing a relay-based immobiliser may void your manufacturer's warranty.
- This applies to vehicles still under dealership or manufacturer warranty — typically 3–5 years from purchase date.
- DFL GPS strongly recommends checking with your vehicle dealer or manufacturer before installing an engine immobiliser on a vehicle under warranty.
- For warranted vehicles, we recommend GPS tracking only (without immobiliser) — you still get full live tracking, alerts, and location recovery without any warranty risk.
- Once your warranty period has expired, an immobiliser can be added at any time by our installation team.
